Restoration status

New to Glasgow Corporation at Langside garage, D258 later operated from Newlands from 1965, Knightswood in 1973 and finally Larkfield and Newlands in 1974. Passed to Aberdeen Corporation numbered 341 in April 1975. It was sold to Greyhound of Arbroath at the end of 1976 and was used mainly on school contracts. By 1980 it was in use on a farm and was obtained for preservation in 1981.

I worked as a driver at Larkfield Garage for 18 months through to summer 1974. As I recall there were about 7 or 8 a dozen CVG6’s in among lots of Leyland Titans and Atlanteans, Every one of the CVG6’s that I drove had pre-selecter gearchange with the lever coming out of the steering column/block, and the ‘not-clutch’ pedal on the floor. None had what looks like the semi-automatic gearchange shown on your video for D258.
The fleet numbers that I recall were in the mid-D190’s, and also D200 through to D203.
I recall D200 as my favourite to drive.., it felt very well put together and the engine responsive.
