The GVVT Archive was established by the late Brian Longworth to care for the many historical items generously donated to the Trust over the years. Today, a dedicated team of volunteers continues this work, cataloguing, preserving and interpreting our growing collection.
What we Collect
Some of the items we have been donated over the years include:
- Photographs, negatives and slides
- Timetables, maps and posters
- Books and magazines
- Staff uniforms and accessories
- Bus Destination blinds
- Tickets and ticket machines
- Company records
- Glasgow Tram and Trolleybus artefacts
- Glasgow Underground artefacts

Thanks to supporters of the Trust, we were able to install rolling shelving, allowing us to store these items safely, securely and efficiently.

Visiting the Museum & Archives
Many items from the collection are displayed in our Museum exhibition display, which is open to visitors during our events. These displays offer a fascinating insight into Glasgow’s transport heritage and the people who helped shape it.
