Alexanders – 61 years since ’61

Looking for something interesting to do in Perth on Sunday 28th August?   How about some free vintage bus rides!

Vintage bus owners from the Scottish Vintage Bus Museum the Glasgow Vintage Vehicle Trust and the Angus Transport Group  will descend upon the fair city of Perth for the day with their lovingly restored vintage buses, from the fleets of the former Walter Alexander & Sons buses empire, to celebrate 61 years since 1961

Why 1961?  This was the year of the split of the vast Alexanders buses empire into three, namely Midland (blue), Fife (red) & Northern (yellow).  Why Perth?  All three fleets met at Perth, with Midland having a depot in the city and running in from the north and south, Fife running in from the southeast, and Northern running in from the northeast.  And why 61 years?  Well, we’d intended to do it last year for the 60 year anniversary, but couldn’t year due to the pandemic, and we wouldn’t have had such a catchy title then!

We plan to bring to you a network of free vintage bus routes from Perth Bus Station, and a shuttle from Broxden Park & Ride.  Our timetables are shown below and are on our social media channels.

Here is a selection of some the buses we hope will be participating, all lovingly restored by their owners over many years.

Come and join us for a trip back in time, and remember, all rides are free!  Ding ding!

You can join our buses at any stop en-route, change buses as often as you wish, and it’s all free!
